How the links pay for this
Some links on this site earn Compasserie a commission. It never changes what you pay, and it never changes what we tell you. Here is every relationship, named.
Amazon
As an Amazon Associate, Compasserie earns from qualifying purchases. Links to our own guides on Kindle carry our Associates tag, so a purchase pays both the royalty on the book and a small referral commission.
Booking partners
Where a checklist recommends something to book before you land, some of those links are affiliate links through Travelpayouts. The partners we currently earn from are EKTA for travel medical insurance, Yesim for eSIM data, Welcome Pickups for airport transfers, Tiqets for attraction tickets, and Go City for city passes.
Links we do not earn from are marked as such on the page itself. Hotels are the clearest example: we have no hotel commission arrangement, and the hotel link is there because you need a hotel, not because it pays.
What a commission does not buy
- It does not buy a recommendation. Where a product is not needed, the page says so.
- It does not change a fact, a law, a date, or a safety note.
- It does not buy placement in a guide. No company has ever paid to appear in one.
Where the disclosure appears
On every page carrying an affiliate link, above the links, in ordinary body text at the same size as everything else you are reading. Not in a tooltip, not behind an accordion, and not in grey six point type at the bottom. A guide that is not yet on sale carries no affiliate link and so carries no disclosure, because there is nothing to disclose.
